Detoxing, or purifying the body, is without a doubt of valuable benefit to almost anyone. This serious investment in time and money requires a commitment, but guarantees a difference in how you feel and look in so many positive ways. It really boosts ALL body functions and allows the body to bring everything back into balance. Periodic detoxification is the best defense against aging and the diseases associated with aging, and that is priceless.
Our detox is HIGHLY supplemented, to help the liver deal with all of the waste products it will be pulling up and handling during this time. You will not fast, however any thorough detox will include some restrictive period, ours being the middle week where you drink detox-shakes only (however you will not go hungry, you can have 4-5 shakes daily).
Depending on your personal circumstances, we may alter the program to better suit your needs.
Our program is unique in that it not only cleanses the body (as many detoxes do) but also fortifies the liver and boosts its capacity to handle toxins in the future. It is highly therapeutic, and involves medical-quality supplementation that has been designed by the nation's leading detoxification expert, Dr. Jeffrey Bland. The program was designed by myself and two naturopaths, and this is nothing like the quick fix over the counter detox potions. I have had astounding results with it. Energy levels soar, digestion improves, mental clarity improves and and chronic complaints such as headaches, sinusitis, acne and asthma in many cases disappear altogether. Also, great care has been taken in designing this program so that you will have energy to still work, play and exercise during it, and not have to just lay down and rest for the three weeks.
While shorter detoxes are a good start, I find that the best results come from a 21-day detox. Generally speaking, it takes 21 day for the body to form a new habit. After 21 days of a focused, therapeutic detox, I find that many of my clients' "bad" habits (such as carbohydrate or sugar addictions, the most common!) subside. The cravings disappear, and the effects of the detox are far longer lasting for that reason.
Because a detox is very hard on the liver, initially, we like to start the detox gently, and take you in slowly and out just as slowly. Basically the first week you are limited to a vegetarian diet. Quantities are not limited, only the TYPES of food that you eat are limited. Buying organic whenever possible makes the program even more effective. The second week involves smoothies only (prepared with a special medical liver detox formula and fortified with rice protein so you don't lose muscle mass on the program), plus you can use fruits/natural fruit juices to prepare the shakes. The third week you finish up on the same vegetarian diet.
One valuable benefit to a long detox is that when you re-introduce the foods you have been missing during the 3 weeks, one at a time, you will see very clearly which ones do not agree with you and may be causing you distress. Most people are very surprised by the results! Avoiding those foods in the future will boost your level of health considerably and keep it that way.
Food is not included in the price of the program, you will buy the foods you eat at your local markets. However, the supplementation is considerable, and all supplements included are designed to work therapeuatically together, to maximize overall impact. The supplements included (all pharmaceutical grade, none are available over the counter) are:
