|   Experience Safe Sun This Summer!
Regrettably, tanning has become a dangerous pasttime. Long gone are the days of baby oil and reflectors (I guess I am dating myself here!) However, the sun feels great and if you are like me, you are not going to avoid it entirely. Here is how we can indulge in some "safe sunning."
There is no doubt that the lion's share of wrinkles and skin damage occur because of sun exposure. That doesn't mean you need to become a hermit, though. You can still go out in the sun safely, wearing a good sun screen, and you can darken that skin without help from the sun using a good self-tanner. The drug store shelves are filled with these products, but not all of them are good.
For many years, I never even carried a sunscreen, because I couldn't find one that nourished my skin, made my skin feel comfortable without side effects and actually worked as a sunscreen. Finally, I have one that I can proudly put my name on. It is water resistant, SPF 28, and contains ingredients I love such as green tea and vitamin C, to help support my skin's ability to handle assaults such a the sun.
Even if you do tan in the sun, you can darken that tan and do less damage with a good self-tanner. Mine won't streak, is sweatproof and rubproof (that is important,I have many stained shirts to prove it), smells good (many do not) and contains green tea! What more can you ask for???
Basic Body Care 101 dictates that you use a gentle, hydrating cleansing agent on the skin (body skin dries out faster than facial skin, so this is important), and a thoroughly hydrating body lotion. It also helps to exfoliate dead skin cells from the body, so try my new Pumpkin & Pumice Body Polish, it is nourishing and sensual, and smoothes out dry, scaly skin. This is especially important if you self-tan, to ensure a smoother application.
So get out from under those umbrellas and live a little!
